School Counseling

As a school counselor, my main focus is to support students with their social/emotional and academic development as related to the school environment.

Counseling schedule:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday- PVS (Grades 4 & 5)

Tuesday/Thursday- HTS (Grade 3)

Classroom Counseling:

3rd grade students will be receiving lessons from the Second Step Curriculum (Child Protection Units) & Common Sense Media

4th grade students will be receiving classroom counseling lessons per teacher request.

Individual or Group Counseling:

Services are available for situational difficulties on topics that include coping skills, family transitions, grief and loss, peer relationships, anger management, academic support, and school transitions. These groups and individual sessions are short-term and solution focused (6-8 weeks) and held as needed. Groups and individual sessions are designed to meet the developmental as well as the situational needs of the students. By addressing these areas, the teaching and learning process in the classroom are supported.

Counseling Office Visits:

Any unscheduled student visit to the counselor's office, will be communicated to the parent/guardian via written notice or phone call.

Confidentiality:

HTS/PVS School counselors abide by the confidentiality guidelines set by the American School Counseling Association (ASCA).  Discussions in the counseling office are private. However, if the counselor is led to believe that harm is suspected, then the counselor is legally and ethically obligated to break confidentiality and contact supports outside the counseling office.

If a student should require additional support beyond what can be offered in school, outside referrals may be made. A list of outside resources is available on the "Parent Resources" page.

Please feel free to reach out to me to discuss the counseling supports that can be offered for your child.
