The mission of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts is to recognize outstanding artistic merit, leadership and academic achievement in dance for students in grades 9-12, and to foster an appreciation for dance as a true art form and one worthy of recognition and prestige.
Student induction is awarded on the basis of points earned for their work in dance that meets the honor society’s general guidelines, in addition to their grade point average in dance. Students must demonstrate collaborative teamwork, motivation and participation in the many aspects of dance, including choreography, performance, production, and community outreach in relation to the HHS dance program. Students earn points upon entrance into the dance program, and are eligible for induction during their junior year.
All inductees will receive an official certificate from the NY State Dance Education Association. In addition, seniors will receive the National Honor Society for Dance Arts honor cord to be worn during graduation in recognition of their accomplishments and contributions in the area of dance arts. Students who continue to accumulate points beyond the required 30, can apply for honors level induction (45 pts) in their senior year (deadline Feb 1st).
Points will be earned and counted at the end of every year. Inductees can apply for acceptance into NHSDA after accumulating the required points. Once accepted, they will be honored at the induction ceremony that takes place immediately following the Spring Arts Concert in April.
Congratulations to the 2025-26 NHSDA Members!

"Being a part of this program for the last four years has provided me with so much. Firstly, an accepting environment in which dancers of all skill levels can learn, grow, and support each other. I knew nothing coming into this program, but I am leaving with a comprehensive education in the art of dance."- Abby Roth (Class of 2022)
