Camp Woods & Wildlife, to be held June 15-19 at Holiday Lake 4-H Center near Appomattox. This hands-on, career-focused overnight camp is open to any Virginia student aged 13-16 who has not attended before. The curriculum covers many aspects of forest and wildlife ecology and management. Classes are taught in the field by natural resource professionals. The camp is supported by donations that allow each camper to attend at a cost of only $95. apply no later than April 15. 2026 Youth Conservation Camp will be held on July 12-18 at Virginia Tech. High school students spend the week learning about Virginia’s natural resources through hands-on, outdoor experiences. (The cost to attend YCC is $550 and includes all activities, lodging, and food. Headwaters SWCD offers partial scholarships to two to help offset the cost)

HAMPTON UNIVERSITY – PHARM READY CAMP
June 15–19, 2026
Deadline: April 1, 2026
Students will spend a week on campus exploring healthcare careers. They will:
Work in science labs
Learn how medications are developed and used
Explore careers in pharmacy, nursing, and health sciences
Connect with faculty and current college students
This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in science, healthcare, or hands-on learning.
How to Apply:
1. Complete the attached paper Hampton University Summer Only Enrollment Application and return it to your Regional Manager.
Page 1: Fill all fields except HU ID Number
Page 2: Answer required questions accurately (SSN included, Pre-College = No, HS completion date = 2027, Housing = Yes, Classification = Junior, etc.)
Make sure both student and parent signatures are included
2. After submission, students must complete the Orientation Guide and Participation Agreement Form online. This step is required to finalize enrollment.
3. Submit the Medical Clearance Form (attached) completed and signed by a medical provider
Your spot is not confirmed until all forms are submitted.

Want to experience real college life before you graduate? This is a college exploration experience designed to help students figure out what they might want to study and build real-world skills.
During the week, students will:
Choose and participate in focused academic sessions such as business, psychology, education, or science
Work on hands-on projects and group activities tied to those subjects
Learn skills like public speaking, time management, and leadership
Follow a real college-style schedule with classes and activities
Stay in residence halls and experience daily campus life
By the end of the week, students leave with a better idea of their interests, more confidence, and a clearer vision of college.
Students in 11th grade currently should select “Yes” for the GEAR UP program when registering. The full cost is covered.
