I love to learn and teach, which is why I still reserve some days per week to work in a hospital for adults with psychiatric illnesses, the ultimate empirical classroom. Why we do what we do (and think the way we think...etc) is fascinating to me, especially with the many theoretical models to describe the function of human behavior. When I supervise, I like to engender a collaborative working relationship where you tell me what interests you and I can help you foster your clinical skills to be a better practitioner.
My mentor told me "feedback is a gift" which gives an adaptive perspective to supervision that I strive to embody. I've been supervising license-eligible clinicians for about five years, both at the outpatient level of care and inpatient, private practice and in a hospital setting. I can provide training on not only knowledge and application of clinical mental health counseling, but also on how this practice fits into our society on a more systemic level.
I have experience working with many types of people including military and veterans, the entire LGBTQIA+ spectrum, individuals in polyamorous/non-monogamous relationships, survivors of sexual abuse and incest, religious trauma survivors, people with intellectual disabilities, individuals living with HIV/AIDS, individuals with histories of incarceration, and people of many cultures and ethnicities.
