Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to Parker Center! We are incredibly excited to have you join our family of Parker Pups! Our vision is to build a positive and inclusive foundation valuing relationships that foster a lifelong love of learning.
Please call the office at 815-654-4559 if you would like to schedule a tour or an appointment to meet the classroom teacher prior to your student’s first day of school.
After reviewing the information below, check out our website to view various videos to help you and your student feel comfortable about Parker Center and all of our procedures.
Arrival & Dismissal - If you need more information, there are specific videos with these procedures on our Parker Center website. School begins and the arrival procedures begin at 7:20. Please remain in your vehicle until 7:20am, once the bell rings you may exit your car and walk your student to the sidewalk. You may also choose to use the drop off lane and a staff member will assist. Students will go directly to their classroom upon entrance to start the day and eat breakfast if they choose.
Once your child has been placed in a classroom the office will let you know which door you will pick up your student at. Parents that are picking students up will need to park and walk up to the assigned door. Students can begin to be picked up at 2:05.
School Supplies – It is important to label all supplies with your student’s name. The school supply list can be found on the Parker Center website.
Snacks & Water Bottles - Please send an individual snack and refillable water bottle/plastic water bottle each day (sent home daily to be washed).
Lunch/Breakfast - all students in the Harlem School District are eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch meals through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP.), The CEP does not cover ala carte items or individually purchased items such as milk. Milk only does have a .40 cent charge.
Before & After Care - After care is provided on-site at Parker by the YMCA. The Harlem Community Center on Roosevelt offers after care, students are bused from Parker Center. Please visit their websites for more information.
Physicals & Immunization Records - All incoming Kindergarten students must have a physical exam dated within one year before entering the grade level. Up to date immunizations records must also be provided, school exclusions can occur if these items are not on file.. All Kindergarten students also need a vision and dental exam.
The staff at Parker is looking forward to working with you and your student!
Sincerely,
Erin Anderson
