Mission Statement:
The mission of the Prevention Initiative Program in the Harlem School District is to guide children ages birth to three to become successful lifelong learners by fostering positive relationships among children, their families, the school, and the community.
Purpose of the Program:
Our free program provides services to eligible families who are expecting or have children under the age of three years*. Services include in-home support and information for families that monitor achievement of developmental milestones, support positive parent-child interactions, establish child and family goals, and link families to community resources.
*Children must be under 32 months prior to screening appointment due to the length of the enrollment process
What do we offer?
In addition to in-home visits, we offer the following opportunities for family engagement:
Monthly PAWS Coffee Chats at Parker Center
Monthly PAWS Family Nights at Parker Center
Weekly Playgroups at Local Community Organizations
Invitations to Community Events
The BabyTALK Home Visit Program is a free program provided by the Prevention Initiative Grant for Harlem School District residents. It provides services to families who are expecting a new baby or who have children under the age of three years old. Services include in-home support and information for families that can help their children's learning, development, and success in school.

I grew up in the area and attended school in the Harlem School District. I graduated from Rockford University with a Masters in Teaching. I have four children that attended the Harlem Schools. I have previously worked with Head Start and Rockford Public Schools in their home visiting programs. I am excited to grow and learn with our program and to be working with families in our community.
I moved to IL about 10 years ago from Chandler,Az. I graduated from ASU with a bachelors in speech and hearing science. My husband is a principal in the Rockford district. We have two children. Addison, 10 and Kayson, 6. We have one dog, his name is a Tyson and is a white boxer. We are proud residents of the Harlem huskies:)
I am originally from Wichita, Kansas. My husband served in the Air Force for 26 years. We have two daughters and a Chihuahua.
We have lived here for 13 years. I graduated from Wichita State University with a Bachelors in Elementary and Early Childhood Education.
I have previously taught Pre-K for several years. I am looking forward to my new role as a Parent Educator!
My Name is Rebekah Stout and I am the new Prenatal - 3 Family Support Specialist in the Preventive Initiative Program for Harlem School District.
In my spare time I enjoy going on hikes, making crafts, playing with my dog Lola, and spending time with my family. What I enjoy most about my position is working with families to help build a strong foundation between home and school.

Hello, my name is D Schneider. This is my 4th year working at Parker Early Education Center. For the past 3 years I have enjoyed working as the 3-5 Family Support Specialist with our preschool families. I am excited to enter my new role in the 0-3 Prevention Initiative Program as a Family Support Specialist. I hold a degree in Elementary Education from National-Louis University. Through my work in the Prevention Initiative Program, I am eager to help families create strong foundations for children and empower families to be their child’s first and most important teacher.
