Julie Watters is a Parkinson’s-informed movement specialist and program designer with over 15 years of experience delivering safe, adaptive, community-based fitness programming for medically complex populations. She specializes in Parkinson’s Disease–specific exercise programs that emphasize balance, gait, postural control, strength, coordination, fall-risk reduction, and long-term participation.
Julie has served as an original Parkinson’s Disease instructor and program designer for Defeat PD (formerly Total Parkinson’s) at the Greystone YMCA since 2021 and currently contributes as a training and program writer supporting program consistency and scalability. Her work integrates evidence-informed movement principles with creative problem-solving strategies to deliver adaptive, engaging programs that support confidence, autonomy, and quality of life for people living with Parkinson’s and their caregivers.
She is the owner of Fit City Movement & Arts in Leeds, Alabama, where she provides corrective exercise, health literacy coaching, and small-group training for adults with neurological conditions and chronic illness. Julie holds specialized Parkinson’s training certifications including PWR!Moves® and Total HealthWorks, along with NASM credentials in corrective exercise and behavioral change. She is an invited Parkinson’s support group speaker and a representative for the Defeat PD at the the 2026 World Parkinson Congress.
