On May 8, 2025, Professors Ick Soo Kim and Ji Ha Lee of Shinshu University, Japan visited and gave a department seminar. The lecture titles were " The Purpose of Shinshu University," and "Development of Sustainable Gell Materials using Self-Assembly Techniques."

On September 18, 2025, Professor Myongsoo Lee from Fudan University, China, visited and gave a department seminar. The lecture title was "Dynamic Nano-pores in Self-Assembly."

Professor Daewon Sohn visited Himeji, Japan and gave an invited talk at the 2nd Taiwan-Japan Soft Interface Symposim, Himeji Convention Center, Japan, March 17-21, 2025

XI'AN AND SHANGHAI, CHINA

Professor Daewon Sohn visited Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and Shanghai Fudan University (FDU), China on Feb. 17-23, 2025.  He gave an invited talk, I-Harbour Lecture hosted by prof. Xiaoqing Ming at XJTU. He also met and discussed the research project with prof. Myongsoo Lee at FDU and General Manager Yunha Lee at AMOREFACIFIC (Shanghai) R& I Center.    

A*STAR & IUPAC-2025

Professor Daewon Sohn gave invited lectures at A*STAR ISCE^2 in Singapore and IUPAC-2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from July 10-17, 2025.

On Oct. 31, 2024, Professor Chi Wu of Shenzhen University and Professor Atsushi Takahara of Kyushu University visited and gave a department seminar. The lecture titles are "What is Pressure? and Therefrom ..." and "Surface Degradation of Polymeric Solids and Microplastic Issues," respectively.

Ngo Trinh Tung and Thai Hoang from Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), Hanoi, Vietnam on April 2, professor Bolormaa Oyuntsetseg  from the National University of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on April 11, and professor Yuji Higaki from Oita University, Japan on May 9, 2024 visited and gave seminars. 

ACS FALL 2024, DENVER, USA

Professor Daewon Sohn, Dr. Jungju Ryu, and Ms. Minjeong Kang attended and presented at the ACS Fall 2024 meeting at Denver, CO, USA, on Aug 18-22.  After the conference, Prof. Sohn and Ms. Kang visited the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA for research discussions. 

NOMATECH ICMSN-2024

Professor Sohn gave an invited talk at the NOMATECH ICMSN-2024, 8-9 July, 2024, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.  And it also signed MOUs with the Department of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Nano Research Institute of the National University of Mongolia. 

IUPAC MACRO 2024 50TH WORLD POLYMER CONGRESS

Mr. Akshay S. Patil attended and made an oral presentation titled "Synthesis of UV blocking carbon dots, composite with polyvinyl alcohol film: A novel smart food packaging materials at IUPAC MACRO 2024 50th World Polymer Congress, July 1-4, 2024. in Warwick, England. 

POLY-CHAR 2024, MADRID, SPAIN

Professor Sohn and Dr. Sim visited and presented at the Polymer Characterization 2024 IUPAC conference at Madrid, Spain from 27-31 May -31, 2024.  

SOFT INTERFACE SEMINAR IN TAIWAN 2024

Professor Sohn visited and presented at the National Taiwan University for the Soft Interface Seminar in Taiwan 2024 on March 27.  

RESEARCH MEETINGS AT HONG KONG AND SHENZHEN, CHINA

Professor Sohn visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Shenzhen University in China to present the seminar and discuss future research cooperation from January 15-20 2024.

Profs. Yuma Morimitsu and Keiji Tanaka from Kyushu University on Nov. 9, and prof. Sheng-Sheng Yu from the National Cheng Kung University on Nov. 16, 2023, gave department seminars.  

 Prof Daisuke Kawaguchi from the Department of Applied Chemistry, Kyushu University, entitled, "Effects of Interfacial Structure and Physical Properties on Functions in Polymer Thin Films," was held on March 9.

MRM2023/IUMRS-ICA2023 AT KYOTO, JAPAN

Prof. Sohn and Dr. Jungju Ryu attended and presented at MRM2023/IUMRS-ICA2023, Kyoto International Conference Center, Kyoto, Japan, on Dec. 11-16, 2023.

2023 TRILATERAL CONFERENCE IN TAIWAN 

Prof. Sohn attended and gave a keynote speech at Chang Gung University for the "2023 MCPST Trilateral Conference on Modern Challenges in Polymer Science and Technology," Jan. 17-18. And prof. Sohn also visited and gave a talk at the National Cheng Kung University, Tainan. 

2023 ACS AT SAN FRANCISCO 

Prof. Sohn and Dr. Jungju Ryu attended and presented at the ACS San Francisco meeting on Aug. 9-18, 2023. Prof. Sohn also visited Minerva University and discussed the collaboration between HYU and Minerva University.   

2022 MINI-SYMPOSIUM AT KYUSHU UNIVERSITY

Prof. Sohn, Dr. Jungju Ryu, and Ms. Hyeyeon Cho attended a mini-symposium with Keiji Tanaka's lab at Kyushu Univesity on Dec. 16, 2022. Prof. Sohn also presented a talk hosted by prof. Higaki at Oita University on Dec. 19, 2022.

2022 ACS FALL MEETING & 

Prof. Sohn, Dr. Jungju Ryu, and Mr. Ngoc Quang Nguyen participated in the ACS Fall meeting in Chicago on Aug. 21-25, 2022, and made the presentations. Prof. Sohn visited Georgia Tech., UConn, Stony Brook University, NJCU, and Univ. Wisconsin before and after the ACS meeting.

Prof. Sohn & Ms. Younhee Jeong visited KIST-Europe, Saarbrücken, Germany, and presented in the 84th Prague Meeting on Macromolecules at the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry CAS, Prague, Czech Republic
