A Study on the Convergence of Basic Science Leading the Era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution
The Research Institute for Convergence of Basic Sciences (RICBS) was established in 2010 to rapidly pursue convergence research with mathematics (applied statistics)/physics/bioscience, particularly information technology (IT), biotechnology (BT), and environmental technology (ET), and nanotechnology (NT).
Starting with professors who participated in the "IBENT (IT-BT-ET-NT) Research Project" in 2007, it focuses on the next-generation U-healthcare research in the era of 4th Industrial Revolution, building the industry-academic network.
In 2021, 40 professors, 10 postdocs, and 4 research associates from mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biological science departments are involved in the institute. (Institutional Evaluation Grade A among 28 science and engineering labs at Hanyang University in 2019.)
In 2007, the "IBENT Science and Technology Project," which combines the fields of physics, chemistry, and life sciences, was selected as one of the "HYU Specialization Projects" held by Hanyang University with the aim of preoccupying next-generation technology, and conducted various convergence technology studies by 2012. Center for Next Generation Cytometer (CNGC, Professor Tae-hyun Yoon, Department of Chemistry, 2017 – 2019) performed with 10 professors from the RICBS. It was selected for the bio-medical technology development project from NRF (National Research Foundation of Korea).
2020 - Selection of a University-Focused Research Institute in the field of Science and Engineering designated by the Ministry of Education, Research Institute for Convergence of Basic Science.
