The mission of the Hanover Public School District school counseling department is to provide a positive, nurturing, safe environment for all students to develop individually and to become productive and responsible citizens in the global community.
The school counseling program promotes school success through a focus on academic, social/emotional and career development. School counselors work with all educators, students, parents, post-secondary institutions, and businesses/community as part of an integral program. The intended product of the K-12 guidance program at HPSD will be a young adult who has formulated a positive self-concept, has basic academic proficiencies, and has developed the appropriate life-preparation skills to be college and/or career ready upon graduation from high school.
We believe that all students are unique and have dignity, value, and the right to be treated with respect. All students have the potential to succeed in the three major domains of student development; personal/social, academic, and career.
