Homeschooling, also known as home education, is the education of children inside the home. Home education is usually conducted by a parent or tutor. Parents in Pennsylvania can teach their children at home. Pennsylvania's law on home education is called Act 169. Children between the ages of six and eighteen must attend school. Educating a child at home is one way to comply with compulsory school attendance laws.
