Kara walker was born in 1969, is 52 years old, She is an American contemporary painter, silhouette, print-maker, installation artist, filmmaker, and professor. She explores race, gender, sexuality, violence, and identity in her work. She is best known for her room-size tableaux of black cut-paper silhouettes.She uses usually black figures against a white wall.She has also produced works in gouache, watercolor, video animation, shadow puppets, "magic-lantern" projections.
