I hope you are doing well!  I cannot believe it is almost October and time continues to fly by.  This will be a fairly short update. 

See You At The Pole:

• Wednesday, September 23rd, is See You at the Pole Day.  We will take the first 10 to 15 minutes to pray outside after the bell rings.  Please have students bring a sweatshirt as it has begen to get chilly in the mornings.  We would love to have you join us if you would like to pray with us.

Literacy:

• Thank you for taking the time to read with your child throughout the week!  It is exciting to see students' reading fluency and confidence grow.  Please continue reading daily with your child.

• Literacy Center Volunteers - Beginning in Quarter 2, parent volunteers are welcome to come in and help with Literacy Centers.  As a volunteer, I may have specific activities to help students with at a center, or I may simply ask volunteers to roam around the classroom, help students who need help, and encourage them to stay on task.  Please understand, that there is no pressure to help at all!  

  • • If you would like to help, please contact Ms. Phelps in the front office to sign up as a volunteer.  Also, if you would like to check available dates, please check our Literacy Center Volunteer schedule to sign up for any dates you may be available.  

Math:

• Math Facts are getting harder as we continue to increase the addends we are adding by.  We will continue to have 2-minute timed tests until we make it through out +10 facts, then we will change the time and or/change the test to include more math fact problems.  We have a little time each morning to review Math Facts, but practice at home is extremely helpful.

• There are some fact fluency practice sheets on our Resources Page, they are linked here as well (these are not the Rocket Math pages).  Students who complete these correctly and turn them in will receive $1 of Swett Cash per worksheet (limited to 2 a week). 

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip:

• We will have a pumpkin patch field trip next month.  I am working with the owner of the pumpkin patch to schedule a date and will follow up with more details when I have solidified plans.
