Week 28
Monday, March 9th -
Friday, March 13th
I hope you have all enjoyed your weekend! The school year is getting busier as the end of the year continues!
Reading Benchmark:
Our Benchmark for reading will be increasing quite a bit beginning in the 4th quarter. It is essential that students are practicing reading at home. Please encourage your child to read to you at least 15 minutes a day. They may also read on the Raz Kids. Students can even record themselves reading a book on Raz Kids and then they can listen to themselves. This also gives you and I the opportunity to ask them to listen to their recordings and ask them what they think about their reading how they think they can improve. I look forward to listening some Raz Kids recordings!
World Renew Giving Project: March 9th - 20th
This week HCS will begin this year's Easter service project World Renew Giving Project.
"World Renew partners with local churches and organizations around the world to bring holistic programs that transform communities in every area of need. Our goal is systemic, generational changes in five key areas: Peace and Justice, Community Health, Food Security, Economic Opportunity and Disaster Response."
Hanford Christian is partnering with World Renew to provide communities with gifts of hope, whether that is a barnyard animal, handwashing station, seeds to plan, or books for education. There are many items from the gift catalog that can be "purchased" to provide hope, healing, and change to communities that World Renew works in. Students/families have the opportunity to donate money, and the class decides what they will donate from the grade-level options from the catalog.
How can you help? As a family, encourage your child to participate in giving their own money. Provide them with ways to earn money and talk about tithing part of it. Have them look around the house for change or let them know that there are special jobs around the house or property that they could earn money to donate. You may send your child to school with their donation in a ziploc bag or envelope, clearly marked "World Renew Donation" and with your child's name. I will be keeping track of donations daily and will be turning donations into the office daily.
As parents, if you would like to donate, include your children in the discussion of what you will be donating and why. Donations (cash or check can be made out to HCS with a notation for World Renew Fundraiser and you can get a donation receipt) will be accepted until March 20th.
