Hampton High School (HHS) has built this site as a resource for educators, students and parents on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI). The HHS DEI website contains valuable information for students with disabilities and 504 Plan students, their families, teachers and the community. Students are provided a Free Appropriate Public Education regardless of disability, race, ethnicity, language, social class, nationality, gender, and sexuality in education and society.

WHAT IS DEI IN EDUCATION?

Diversity recognizes the differences between people and includes different factors, such as age, race, ethnicity, language, socio-economic status, disability, religion, political orientation, sexual orientation, gender identity, and family structure.

Teaching for diversity refers to acknowledging a range of differences in the classroom. Teaching for inclusion signifies embracing difference. Teaching for equity allows the differences to transform the way we think, teach, learn and act such that all experiences and ways of being are handled with fairness and justice.
