At this point, we have discussed what we want students to know, understand, and be able to do. We also know how we're going to assess that. Now how do we actually teach the material? View the presentation below to learn more about this stage.
Watch this video that discusses how we build engaging learning experiences in the Hampton City Schools Curriculum.
2. Review the Instructional Technique Library and the Virtual and Hybrid Instructional Techniques to see which you might use in your classroom.
The Instructional Technique Library is a collection of instructional techniques that will work for the majority of content areas and grade levels (with minor adaptations) as Connect/Do activities. Write-ups for each technique contain:
A brief description of the activity
Classroom management considerations
Adaptations for student developmental levels
Examples of potential uses for each technique by subject area
Videos of HCS teachers implementing the strategies (we will be adding more throughout the rest of this year and the next)
Because online pedagogy is not the same as in-person pedagogy, HCS has compiled a list of highly Engaging Online Techniques that can be used in live Zoom lessons. We recommend that teachers vary these techniques frequently; using the same technique over and over will lower its engagement level. These slides can easily be copied into your Google Slides lesson.
