Pre-research is when you learn more about your topics by reading reference sources. As you read ask yourself:
Are the topics interesting?
Will there be enough information?
What questions do I have?
As you pre-research, it's helpful to make a mind map of the related topics, thoughts, and questions you have. Once you have explored a few topics, choose the one that interests you most and has enough information sources to explore.
To successfully accomplish this stage of the research process, students need to learn how to understand an assignment, manage time well, use reference sources to conduct preliminary research on a few possible topics, and to create a research question.
