1.Ask Questions

Before deciding on a topic, explore at least two possibilities by doing pre-research.  

Pre-research is when you learn more about your topics by reading reference sources.  As you read ask yourself:

  • Are the topics interesting?  

  • Will there be enough information?  

  • What questions do I have?

As you pre-research, it's helpful to make a mind map of the related topics, thoughts, and questions you have.   Once you have explored a few topics, choose the one that interests you most and has enough information sources to explore.
