Mind maps provide a structure for organizing ideas and information and aid understanding by breaking topics down into their parts. Mind mapping can be used to develop new ideas, or to break down and better understand existing information. You can choose to mind map using an online tool or by sketching and making notes in a written format.
How to Mind Map:
Write the main topic in the middle of the page. If using a digital tool, insert a node in the center of the page and type your main topic.
For each of the sub-topics, draw lines or arrows from the main topic.
As you learn about your topic, make notes or ask questions under each sub-topic.
If the sub-topics have related issues, draw lines or arrows from them and list related points.
Feel free to color code your mind map.
How to Mind Map with a Lotus Chart:
Write the main topic in the center. If using a digital format, insert a text box in the center and type the main topic.
Place subtopics in the colored squares around the main topic, and then write those same subtopics in the corresponding colored squares around the edges of the chart.
