Narrow your broad topic into a specific research question.  

Often students begin a research project with an idea they want to prove.  However, good research begins with a question.  A research question is the main query that your project strives to answer or the problem you are trying to solve.  A strong research question focuses the research process and promotes inquiry, so it's important to get it right.
