8th grade students will be allowed to attend a football game with a high school band. They will be required to attend rehearsal prior to the game. More info will be sent out based on individual high schools participating.

November 6th- Honor Band Auditions
All students with a year of experience are required to audition. No fee is involved unless pre-ordering food. Students stay after school and may call parents for pick-up when the audition is complete. Event usually runs from 4-8:30 p.m. and students may be finished as early as 5:30 p.m. Audition numbers are assigned randomly. Any conflicts MUST be communicated asap to get students in and out as needed. This is a Test grade for all experienced players.
*Parent volunteers are needed for concessions and supervision

Brass and Percussion at Bethel HS and Woodwinds at Eaton Advanced players are expected to audition for this ensemble. If the student makes the band, there is a 3 day commitment, not long-term. There is a small fee to audition. Materials will come out to children in November.

Students that make the band will go to a host school Thursday evening, Friday during the school day and have a rehearsal and concert Saturday.

Advanced players sign up to perform with the CNU Captains at a college basketball game- must have made Honor Band to be eligible to attend.

February tba: Musicapalooza Event at Jones MS for rising 6th graders/ anyone interested in joining
March tba: Assessment Camp with professional musicians.
Assessment Band breaks up by instrument to work with professionals in their area for focused and detailed instruction after school. Parent Performance on stage at the end.
March 17th: Performance for 6th grade during the last block (3:20 p.m.)
This assembly is a mock performance for Assessment and also for Music in Our Schools Month.
This will be recorded for a practice assessment. Audience dismisses from the auditorium.
March 18-19 (tbd): VBODA Concert Band Assessment (Date/ time unknown until schedule released)
We will be assigned a time on one of these days to perform on stage for judges at Heritage HS. Advanced players are required to participate. This is our SOL test. No make up is allowed. Please plan ahead and do not schedule trips during these days. Do not schedule major dental work in the month leading up to this assessment.

Students have pizza or bring their lunch after returning to school.

Come out between 5 and 8 p.m. to the Coliseum Drive restaurant. Bring receipts to Mrs. Farrell inside. Drive-thru orders can't count. Please join us and make a great showing to support the band. The more sales, the higher the percentage that comes back to us! If you have an event coming up, order platters that evening and 100% of party trays goes to the band!!!
