Standards of Learning (SOL) tests are state subject tests needed to accumulate verified credits for graduation. Please see the Promotion Policy page to determine what SOLs your child will need to graduate.
Advanced Placement (AP) tests are end of the year test administered for students taking AP classes. Successful completion of the class and the test can earn students college credits.
Colleges and Universities require students to take either the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) or the ACT (American College Test). Exam scores must be submitted with college applications. The SAT/ACT testing school code is 471020.
Students who wish to enter the military must take the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) test.
Where do I go to get my student the extra help they need to pass their SOL's?
Students can take an SOL for any subject they have taken. In the event they are unsuccessful in their first attempt, students can retake that SOL during the following testing sessions offered throughout the school year and during the Summer.
The VDOE (Virginia Department of Education) Releases past SOL tests so that students can download and use them as a Study Guide. These Released SOL Tests come with an answer key enabling the student to know where they need to focus their efforts pertaining to preparing for the upcoming testing window. For the most up to date information pertaining to the Released tests please click onto the following link, SOL RELEASED TESTS.

How to Apply for Testing Accommodations
The College Board provides a broad range of accommodations to eligible students. Accommodations must be applied for and approved before they can be used.
Accommodations Requests
Most students get help applying for accommodations from their school counselor and SSD Coordinator. The process can be completed online or on paper. All the necessary information must be provided for a request to be considered. Applying online may save time and get students a faster response.
Deadlines for Submission
Reviewing accommodations requests takes approximately seven weeks. Start the process during freshman year if possible. Students who receive accommodations can use them throughout their high school careers. Once approved, it’s not necessary to reapply.
