Laura Wyatt as served as the principal for Barron Fundamental Elementary School since 2023/2024.
Ms. Wyatt is no stranger to Barron Fundamental Elementary School as she has served Barron’s students, families, and staff for the past six years as the assistant principal. Additionally, she has been an assistant principal at Cary Elementary (now Mary T. Christian), Kraft Elementary, and Tucker-Capps Fundamental Elementary (now Mary W. Jackson). Prior to her administrative role, she served as an elementary school teacher for five years at Kraft Elementary as well as a school counselor at Kraft for 13 years.
She earned both her bachelor’s in elementary education and government and her master’s in school counseling from the College of William & Mary. She then earned her certification in educational leadership and supervision from The George Washington University.
Charnita Clements will serve as an administrative assistant at Barron Fundamental Elementary School.
Clements has served as a school counselor at Barron since 2017, where she has worked closely with students, families, and staff. Prior to joining Barron, she served as a family engagement specialist with Hampton City Schools. Her previous experience also includes serving as a guidance counselor and AVID site coordinator with Cumberland County Public Schools, as well as a supervisor in behavioral health services.
Clements earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication studies and a Master of Education in community and college counseling/guidance and counseling PreK–12 from Longwood University. She is currently a member of the HCS/Old Dominion University cohort, where she continues to develop her knowledge and skills in educational leadership.
