HCSS Virtual School Letter

Dear HCSS Parents, Students, and Staff,

We hope that you are well and that you are doing everything possible to keep your families safe and healthy. The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted routines for all of us, not the least of which is your child’s learning.

HCSS students will continue receiving education through our HCSS Virtual School. We utilized our in-place infrastructure to deliver online instruction and designed a website for you: HCSS Virtual School website (http://www.hampdencharter.org\virtualschool). The site contains information about online classes, teachers’ live sessions, and the latest updates and information regarding counseling, parent resources, food services, homeless services, superintendent updates, and COVID-19 guidelines and videos.

Our online classes started on Tuesday, March 17th for all students. Students participated in Google Classrooms where they watched teachers’ lessons, completed their assignments, and joined live sessions with their teachers through the Zoom video conferencing tool.

I would like to thank our faculty for their hard work and dedication in designing an online learning platform to ensure routine, normalcy, and continuity of learning through the extended school closure resulting from COVID-19 . I also thank everyone in the community for their support, flexibility, and adaptability as we navigate uncharted territory.

These are the types of events that define us as a community. Helping your child remain engaged in learning is a small, but extremely important, step in ensuring we are stronger when this pandemic ends.

Take care of yourself and your families in the coming days and weeks.

Sincerely,

Tarkan Topcuoglu
