Homeless Services

How can I get HELP?

Massachusetts offers a number of programs to help families and individuals tackle homelessness on a short- or long- term basis. If you are experiencing homelessness or are at imminent risk of homelessness, please call 1-866-584-0653. Shelter applications can and should be done by phone.

With office closures until at least April 3rd, families with children seeking to apply for Emergency Assistance (EA) shelter only can apply by phone with the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). More details about the EA program can be found here: Get Help: Families with Children

Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) offices also will be closed to the public until at least April 3rd, so families and individuals who are looking to apply for benefits or follow-up on existing benefits should contact DTA by phone or via the DTA Connect app or website. Read more here.

If they are not already, students who are unaccompanied and homeless should be connected with youth providers listed on the Unaccompanied Homeless Youth and Young Adult Commission website.
