Superintendent Letter-April Vacation Update(4/14/2020)

Dear Parents, Students, and Staff,

The Commissioner of Education released guidance to school districts regarding April vacation: if districts decide to work through April break, those days will count as school days. We asked our school community, including parents, students, and staff, on separate surveys for their feedback about using April vacation days as school days to continue online learning in order to close the school year early. 74% of respondents were in favor of utilizing those days to continue learning.

Today, the school committee decided to continue through April vacation and to use those days as school days. As a result of using April vacation, the last day of school will be Friday, June 5th for 6th-11th graders and Friday, May 22nd for senior students.

I would like to thank our school community for taking part in this survey and for their hard work and dedication in this difficult time.

I continue to extend my wishes for good health and safety to all of us. Let’s all stay safe and stay home. If there is anything that we can do for your family, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Take good care,

Sincerely,

Tarkan Topcuoglu
