Academic Scheduling

Registration and Records

► Academic Scheduling

Academic Scheduling at Hamline University is a function of Registration and Records. Our office works closely with academic departments and programs to build and maintain class listings for all undergraduate and graduate programs, and we maintain uniform scheduling policies, guidelines, and procedures across all schools to ensure that the schedules are accurate and equitable.

Course Scheduling

Designated staff, Administrative Heads in the CLA, and Department Chairs in the HSB have access to the Master Academic Schedule spreadsheets in Google. All scheduling, including new sections and changes to existing sections, are made through the Google sheets. If you are a designated scheduling person, you can access the sheets here:

Reserving Seats

If you need to reserve seats in a course for a specific type of student (such as majors or new incoming first years), please use this form.

Classroom Scheduling

Rooms for courses are scheduled by Registration and Records, with the exception of additional sessions scheduled outside of the regular meeting times for a course. Any one-time, special room needs (study sessions, different room for a guest presenter, etc.) should be made through 25Live.

To request a change to the room in which your course has been scheduled, please use this form.

Active Learning Classroom (ALC) Scheduling

Hamline now has a variety of active learning classroom spaces: WEST 240A, 4, and 6; BML 301; EAST 12; and EAST 316A (fka the Bridge classroom). These classrooms have differing levels of technology, types of furniture, and options for configuration to encourage interactive, engaging student-centered learning. To facilitate thoughtful use of these specialized learning spaces, they are scheduled outside of the regular classroom scheduling process. Space is limited and we will do our best to accommodate requests.

For more information about our ALC spaces, including room description, default configuration, technology, and guides can be found on the Active Learning Classrooms website. Please note: this is a Google site and you may need to log in with your Hamline credentials.

Schedule an ALC space:

Please note that, during Fall semesters, WEST 240A is utilized by the FYSem courses for individual meetings and will not be available to other courses that meet MWF 10:20-11:20 and TR 12:50-2:20. Courses that meet during those times may still be able to schedule a single class session in the room (via 25Live), but priority will be given to the FYSem classes.
