It's important to emphasize that my hypotheses are not definitive explanations but starting points for analyzing potential factors contributing to the speculated failure of Black charter schools and their past and current leadership castes. My proposed research and analysis would be necessary to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the many issues.
Developed Hypotheses
Charter school boards with greater autonomy and fewer external checks and balances are more likely to engage in overreach, potentially resulting in issues such as financial mismanagement, lack of accountability, or failure to meet educational goals.
Leadership: Lack of proper leadership training and experience. Charter schools operate independently, and often, their leaders may not have had the same level of experience or guidance as leaders in traditional public schools. This could lead to challenges in managing resources, implementing effective strategies, and building a strong school culture.
The absence of pressure to prioritize test scores and performance metrics. In some cases, charter schools do not face increased pressure to demonstrate high academic achievements as they operate to provide better educational opportunities. This phenomenon might be due to the lack of knowledge by the governing body and staff.
Charter school leadership failures may stem from issues with accountability and oversight. Unlike traditional public schools, which are subject to more stringent regulations and oversight mechanisms, charter schools can operate with more autonomy. This can create challenges in ensuring proper accountability, transparency, and adherence to best practices.
Cultural practices, training, and staff development must be mandated while coherence is being developed through a series of interpersonal workgroup connections.
