The Center for Justice and Law is excited to announce our 2022-2024 Environmental Justice Series. Featuring a wide range of prominent speakers, these events aim to further the Center’s mission of advancing justice through education and action.

Let This Radicalize You Book Club

All community members are welcome to join the Center for Justice and Law and the students of the Environments, Justice, and Wellbeing class as they read Let This Radicalize You by Kelly E. Hayes and Mariame Kaba. Optionally, engage with the accompanying workbook which can be downloaded & printed for free at https://www.haymarketbooks.org/books/2200-let-this-radicalize-you-workbook. 

We will meet three times in Hamline East Hall 316a from 1:00-2:00 pm at the following dates:

Thurs. March 21, 2024 - Through Chapter 4

Thurs. April 18, 2024 - Through Chapter 7

Thurs. May 2, 2024 - Through to the End

Food Recovery Workshop

Join CFAC for a light dinner to learn what neighboring schools are doing about food recovery, and after, we will put it into action. The Food Recovery Workshop will take place on April 19 at 5:00PM in Carondelet Center. RSVP using the link here. We can't wait to see you there!

Alumni Earth Week Meet Up at the Garden!

Join the Center for Justice and Law, Environmental and Climate Studies Dept, and the Sustainability Office for an alumni gathering at the Peace and Appreciation Garden (north of East Hall, behind Bush Memorial Library, south of Lot B) on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 4:45-5:15 pm. This event will end just in time to head over to the Hamline Alumni Gathering in Klas at 5:30. Come to share stories, check out the garden, and learn how you can volunteer to help out in the neighborhood!

April Film Night- STOP the Reroute: Taking a Stand on Sacred Land

Do you want to learn about sacred land around Minnesota? Join us to learn about the American Indian Movement that aims to prevent destruction of a park from road construction.

Garden Volunteers Needed!

Volunteer this summer to help us maintain the Hamline Peace and Appreciation Garden and MicroFarm! There is an opportunity to join us Wednesday, April 24, 2024 from 4:30-5:30 in the MicroFarm on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 4:45-5:15 at the Peace & Appreciation Garden to learn more in-person. Also, email us at cjl@hamline.edu with any questions or to volunteer your time. Additionally, there may be a stipend available for students that wish to manage the gardens this summer. 

Adopt a Garden Bed!

Does your org, office, team, dept, or group of friends/family want to grow foods you can't find on campus? To relax with gardening? Or just to beautify the neighborhood?

10 3x3 ft garden boxes in the Hamline Micro-Farm are available! They can be yours for the summer! Email the us at cjl@hamline.edu with any questions or to request your box by May 15.
