There are four curricular choir options available at Hamilton High School:
- Concert Choir - a mixed choir for women grades 11-12; men grades 9-12
- Cantabile Choir - a women's choir for beginning choir students grades 9-10
- A Cappella Choir - an advanced level choir open primarily to grades 11-12, and grade 10-instructor approval only; 2018-2019 subject to audition
- Synergy Show Choir - a competitive singing/dancing group open to grades 9-12; Audition Only
MEET THE DIRECTORS!
HHS Concert Choir, A Cappella Choir, and Synergy Show Choir are under the direction of Marilyn Mascitti. The 2018-2019 year will mark Mascitti's 12th year in the Hamilton School District. Mrs. Mascitti teaches A Cappella Choir, Concert Choir, Show Choir, Beginning Piano, Advanced Piano, and Voice Lessons at HHS. She was also the vocal music director for HHS's annual musical from 2007-2017.
Mascitti received her Bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire in 2006 and earned her Master's Degree in Music Education from Boston University in August 2011.
Under Mascitti's direction, the choirs have have performed with the Milwaukee Master Singers, Mark Wood "Electrify Your Strings" program, and as part of a professional collaboration with the "McCartney Years." They have participated in Carthage College choir festivals for over 10 years and sang as part of a Choral Union concert at St. John's in Milwaukee. The choirs have also traveled to perform in Disney World and New York with the HHS Bands, and will travel to London for the International Choral Festival in 2018-2019.
Mascitti enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, spending time with friends and family, and hanging out with her husband, son and dog. She and her family are expecting baby boy #2 in May of 2019!
Megan Menzel is the director of Cantabile Choir at HHS. You might also see her teaching 6th grade General Music at Templeton, Kindergarten and 1st grade music at Lannon and 1st grade music at Marcy. She is also the Music Director for Hamilton's Spring Musical and Drama Advisor at Templeton. Previously, she was a K4-8th grade music teacher at Milwaukee Scholars Charter School. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire in December 2014 with a Bachelor's degree in K-12 Choral and General Music.
In her free time Ms. Menzel loves to read, go to live concerts, ski, spend time with family and friends, and travel. Most notably, she toured Ireland and Northern Ireland as a Student Conductor for UW-Eau Claire's Women's Concert Chorale through Dublin, Galway, Limerick, Sligo, Derry and Belfast.
