Letter to Parents

Dear Parents/Guardians, 

My name is Melissa Garris and I am the School Counselor at Hamburg School. I am so happy to be here and be a part of this amazing school and community! As a School Counselor, my job is to ensure the success of each and every student, academically, social/emotionally, and personally. I look forward to offering my support and services to the students, staff, family, and community. 

My office is a safe and warm space where students can come and speak freely. Most importantly, the students are always welcome! My goal is that your children know that they have an ally and advocate with me. I will always keep their best interests in mind and strive to see that they are succeeding. 

I am always willing to connect with the parents and discuss any issues/worries you may be having. I can be reached at mgarris@hamburgschool.com and by phone at 973-827-7570 EXT. 201. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns or simply just for an introduction!

Please know that what is said between your child(ren) and myself, stays between us. Confidentiality is broken when there is risk of harm to oneself or harm to others, harm is being done to them, or they give me permission to share with a trusted adult.
