Class overview

Welcome to 5th and 6th grade ELA with Mrs. Van Teyens! I am so excited to learn and grow with your child this school year. In ELA, students will develop their skills in reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, handwriting, reading comprehension, and novel-based units through engaging and meaningful activities. Students should expect ELA homework each school night, with assignments posted in the classroom and recorded in their planners. Some assignments will be completed through Google Classroom. Families will be kept informed through ClassDojo, email, and weekly grade updates. My goal is to create a classroom that is welcoming, supportive, and engaging while helping every student become a confident reader, writer, and learner.
