News from the Front Office

It's hard to believe it is May and our Warriors only have a few weeks of school left! Our 3rd-5th Grade students are finishing strong with Milestones testing wrapping up this week. We are also celebrating our AMAZING CMCSI Teachers & Staff with Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week. If you missed the plans from PTO, you can see the week's schedule of activities you can participate in here and our teacher's favorite things here. We are truly blessed to have a building full of special people dedicating their lives to our CMCSI students. This is a great week to show them our gratitude!

Our LAST Spirit Night for the year is on May 13th from 5:00-8:00PM at Sliced in Oakwood. They are a new partner for CMCSI, so let's show them our CMCSI spirit! Don't forget to tell them you are from CMCSI so your take-out or dine-in orders support our school. The Parents Night Out with Dojo will be rescheduled for next school year.

Although different this year, we have some exciting things happening to finish up the year from Field Day to Awards Days, to our Drive-By Graduation Parade for former Warriors graduating from high school and more. Please see the information below for our End of Year events.

Enjoy these last few weeks of school with your students! Thank you for giving us the privilege to serve your children and this community. This year has been truly unprecedented, but what a celebration of resilience to see how much our students have learned and grown together at CMCSI. We hope you have a wonderful summer, and as always, let us know if you need anything.

  • Kindergarten through 4th Grade Students will have Awards Days during the last week of school, but visitors will not be allowed to attend, per COVID guidelines. Each student who receives an award will have a picture sent home.

  • All in-person classes will have End of Year parties in their classrooms on Friday, May 21 (separate from Awards ceremonies). Parents will be asked to send party supplies in advance. Please remember ALL food must be individually wrapped. No visitors will be allowed for parties. See your child's class newsletters for more information.

  • Virtual Students should return school Chromebooks and materials to CMCSI on Friday, May 14 between 11:30AM-2:30PM in front of the school. Virtual students who purchased a CMCSI Yearbook may also pick up their yearbook at this time. Please contact your child's teacher with questions.

Field Day 2021

Field Days may look different this year, but we are ready for our students to have some fun!

  • Frozen Frenzee will be here this year! Please send $3 cash only/ exact change to your child's teacher to purchase. More information will be coming home soon!

  • Students will participate in stations and Field Day activities with their homerooms only.

  • Visitors will NOT be allowed on Field Days.

  • Virtual students are invited to participate with their classes (teachers will send details).

  • Field Days will be spread over 3 days to give classes/ students additional space.

  • Field Days will be May 11th (Kindergarten and First Grade), May 12th (Second and Third Grade), and May 13th (Fourth and Fifth Grade). Virtual classes will be combined, so please check your child's date for Field Day with your virtual teacher.

  • If weather interferes with one of the Field Days, that Field Day will be rescheduled, when possible. There will not be the option to have Field Day indoors.

  • Students should wear sunscreen and a hat, bring a towel & water bottle, and wear comfortable shoes & clothes. Please note: there may be some water games on Field Days.

Summer Reminders

Research indicates that most students experience a "summer slide" in their reading, writing and math skills once they are not practicing these skills in school daily. We want to encourage our CMCSI families to have your students read for 20 minutes daily, find reasons to write (journals, creative writing, letters to family, etc.) and practice math skills (games, recipes, online resources, etc.) each day this summer.

Looking for ways to have fun and incorporate learning into your child's summer? Check out these Summer Resources The local library & Hall County Schools also have exciting Summer Reading Programs, and you can find more information here.

Thanks for helping our Warriors learn and grow... even during the summer!

Information from the School Nurse

Medication Pickup

All medications need to be picked up by the last day of school (5/21/21). All medications not picked up will be discarded unless prior arrangements have been made with the Nurse Shaunda.

Over the summer break plan to get all medical care plans (asthma, allergy, seizure & daily meds) updated from your child’s pediatrician so those are ready by the first day of school next year. Make sure all medication prescriptions are current & up to date. Don’t forget to schedule yearly physicals and update all immunizations that are needed. Please provide the schools with updated immunization records at the beginning of the school year.

Please email Nurse Shaunda with questions or to request any forms needed for the upcoming school year.

Kindergarten Registration

Welcome New Warriors! We are thrilled to welcome students who will be entering Kindergarten during the 21-22 school year. Kindergarten Registration continues to take place online for students who will be 5 years old by September 1st. Registration will ONLY be held online. Please visit the Hall County Schools registration website to register your child for Kindergarten. We encourage you to share this information with your neighbors who have children entering Kindergarten, as well. Once students are completely registered, we will send information regarding our Kindergarten Camp to be held at CMCSI July 20-23. Contact the office with questions!

Character Education & Community Topic

Character Word

  • Our CMCSI Character Education Word of the month is Commitment. Students are learning that commitment is making a plan and putting it into practice. Please see more resources for parents to use to discuss Commitment here.

Community Topic

  • Leadership is this month's Community Topic at CMCSI. Students will be learning about community influencers from history such as Nelson Mandela & Sandra Day O’Connor and how they showed leadership, respect, and were goal-oriented.

Cafeteria Information

  • If you have not completed the Free or Reduced Meal application (even though meals are free for all students this year), PLEASE DO SO! You may complete your application at www.schoolmeals.hallco.org and find more information here.

Ways to Support CMCSI

Spirit Nights

  • CMCSI Spirit Nights take place each month! If your family visits the restaurant or drive-thru on our CMCSI Spirit Night, a portion of the sales will be donated to the school! Mark your calendar for these:

        • May 13 @ Sliced in Oakwood

Masks & Face Coverings

  • Be sure to send your child to school with a mask or face covering each day AND send an extra in his/her backpack, as we know masks sometimes can be lost, broken, soiled, etc.

Kroger Plus Card Community Rewards

  • Be sure to link your Kroger Plus Card to CMCSI here. We earn when you shop!

Publix Partners

  • Sign up for Publix Partners here. Enter your phone number at check-out & we earn money!

Bottled Water for Classrooms

Wipes & Hand Sanitizer

  • Please continue to send hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes (like Clorox wipes) for our classrooms. Please consider donating to your child's classroom, our Media Center, gym, Computer Lab, etc. We appreciate your help!
