Dear Parents,
I hope you are having a wonderful summer! We are looking forward to the 2026-27 school year. This summer, our leadership team has been planning for the upcoming year (pictured above at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, Gainesville). In the coming weeks, we will be introducing you to our talented new staff members!
Mark your calendars for Open House on Wednesday, August 5. We will be hosting families at staggered times in order to provide a more personable orientation and allow teachers more time to talk with students and parents. Please see times by last name below. Our first day of school will be Friday, August 7.
If you have school registration questions, please email our data clerk marisa.chester@hallco.org. Class placement information will be available for kindergarten families and new students before Open House.
If you did not already do so in May, please complete this form to reserve your student's car rider tags! The 2026-27 supply list and 2026-27 calendar are also included below. Parents should complete all forms in Infinite Campus Parent Portal prior to the first day of school. Please see info below in green with the list of district forms to be completed online.
If you or your business are interested in being a Partner in Education with MVES, please review the PIE information below. The deadline for partnerships to be included on this year's t-shirt is Friday, August 7. Thank you!
Summer is not over yet which means more time for summer reading! It is important that all of our Jr. Trojans continue reading during the school break. You will find summer reading program information below. Students who return a completed summer reading challenge form to Mrs. Ruis in the Learning Commons will be recognized for their summer reading in August!
Our PTO is planning a great year of family involvement, and we are looking forward to having new playground equipment installed during the 1st quarter of the school year!
Please review the new Hall County School District student personal electronic device policy that can be found in the attached student/parent handbook and below the 26-27 calendar on this newsletter.
I hope you all enjoy the remaining weeks of summer with your families, and I look forward to seeing you soon at Mt. Vernon!
Go Trojans!

INFINITE CAMPUS PARENT PORTAL REQUIRED FORMS
Starting Monday, 7/6 all parents will receive a notification in Parent Portal to complete an Annual Census Update. The Hall County School District has redesigned the process to make it more streamlined and easier to complete this annual task, eliminating the need for much of the open house and first day of school paperwork.
When parents log into Infinite Campus Parent Portal for the first time this year, parents will be prompted by a pop-up message to complete an Annual Census Update before accessing your student's information, including forms, and viewing class schedules when published by your child's school.
Parents will need to confirm or update household, emergency contact, and student information, this includes all Health information for your child. For security purposes parents will need to upload a copy of their ID for each child. The process can be completed on any device; however, it is recommended that the process be completed on a mobile phone to make uploading of parent ID easier. Any parent without a device can complete the task at your child's school at Open House.
Once the Annual Census Update has been filled out, parents will need to complete one form that includes below information:
Compulsory Education Notification
Student Services Program Acknowledgment
Code of Conduct
Student Device Acceptable Use and Checkout Agreement
Student School Agendas and Planning Guides
Participation in Clubs and Organizations (Middle and High School only)
Digital Citizenship Program
Book Notification
Digital Media Release
Student Health Updates
All 6th & 8th grade parents will also receive a Scoliosis form that will be listed separately.
Forms will be available in Parent Portal on the following dates/times:
Elementary Schools - July 6th at 4:00 p.m.
Middle Schools - July 7th at 4:00 p.m.
High Schools - July 8th at 4:00 p.m.
If you have any questions or need any help accessing your Parent Portal, please contact our front office.
Save the Date for your 2026-27 Calendars:

MVES PARTNERS IN EDUCATION
Partners in Education are critical to our success as a community school. Our school community is strengthened by the support of our PIEs, our PTO and The North Hall Community Education Foundation. During the 2025-26 school year, our students and staff received wonderful support from our partners, and we are thankful!
Our primary request is for monetary donations in the amount of $700-$1,000. Donations are primarily used to support school facilities and beautification, school-wide enrichment, and student and staff recognition. Our school also benefits from designated support for initiatives such as technology enhancements and STEM education.
In return for your support of MVES, we are committed to a yearlong recognition program for our Partners in Education. PIEs will be recognized through a variety of ways including school signage, student t-shirts, and school publications. The deadline for partnerships to be included on this year’s field trip t-shirt is Friday, August 7, 2026. Donations can be mailed to MVES, 4844 Jim Hood Rd, Gainesville, GA 30506, or dropped off to Missy Odom at the front office. Please note summer office hours are Tuesday/Thursday 8:30AM-11:30AM and 1:00PM-4:00PM. If you or your business would like one of our PIE appreciation yard signs, please let us know, and one of our team members will deliver a sign to you during the 2026-27 school year. We love to see these signs in our community!
Many of you have a particular area or project that you have generously sponsored for us in the past, and we appreciate your support in these areas! For example, if you supported our Math Master t-shirts during 2025-26, we would love to have your support again this year for our new 2026-27 Math Master t-shirts! Other special areas and projects include professional learning day staff breakfasts or treats, Curriculum Night staff dinner, extracurricular enrichment club sponsors and One School One Book.
Thank you for your support of our school community! Go Trojans!
