We’re excited to share that we’ve adopted a new communication platform called ParentSquare to help us keep you better informed and more connected with our school community.
Important Dates & Information:
• On Monday, April 6, 2026, you will receive a message from ParentSquare welcoming you to the platform. You will receive this message whether or not you have already created an account.
• LSi3 will no longer communicate through Remind 101 after April 30, 2026. Beginning May 1, all communication will be sent through ParentSquare.
• Starting Monday, May 11, 2026, Remind 101 will no longer be available for use across the entire Hall County School District.

PTO EVENTS
Fun Run: April 24
Teacher Appreciation Week: May 4-8
Be a part of your child's school day!
Did you know you don't have to be a part of PTO to still be involved in your child's school day? While volunteering with PTO and school events does provide you more visibility with your child at Lanier, there are still ways you can interact with him/her.
1. Have lunch with your child! Now that the weather is warming, take advantage of those outdoor picnic tables or sit inside the atrium to share a meal with your kiddo.
2. Ask your child's teacher how you might assist him/her. The teachers need help making copies, stuffing Tuesday folders, and doing other classroom tasks.
3. When available, go as a chaperone on your child's field trip.
4. Watch your child compete in Field Day activities.
5. Support your child at the Fun Run.
While the school year is coming to an end, you can still plan to do these things next year. And please consider joining PTO! We don't expect you to come to every monthly meeting (minutes are sent out after the meeting and detail what was discussed), and you don't have to volunteer at every event. Do what works for your family and your schedule.
Thank You
Thank you to Cafe Cancun (5200 Thompson Bridge Road, Murrayville) for providing a tasty taco bar for the teachers and staff on February 19! Everyone enjoyed the Thankful Thursday meal. PTO also appreciates the 1st and 2nd grade families who contributed to the cost of the meal, along with the Chick-fil-A breakfast provided on March 12. We couldn't do it without you!

Courage Pursuit for Families:
Our Character Strong focus for April is Courage. Review Courage as a family! Remember that Courage is choosing what is helpful, right, and kind – even when it’s hard or scary. What’s something that you’ve been afraid to discuss with your student? Something that might be difficult to explain about our community or the world. Chances are they will hear about it eventually and it may come from someone who is less informed or less supportive than you. Have a Courageous conversation with your student. It could be about bullying, the environment, uncertainty, etc. Remind them that love and support are 2 tools that we can use to practice Courage. Discuss as a family ways they can practice Courage around the issue you discuss.
Please check the Learning Commons Links in the left menu to see our policies and procedures.
AUTHOR VISIT
We had a great time having Allie Milligton April 2, as our visiting Author. She told us all about her dreams of becoming an author and the many rejections (450) before her first book, Olivette, was published a few years ago. These rejections also were the inspiration for her first picture book "When You Find A Hope". Check out all the great moments from her visit.
YEARBOOK
The deadline to purchase this year's LSi3 yearbook is approaching fast. Yearbook signing day will be in May and all orders need to be in by April 17 in order for the books to be here in time for signing day.
Remember, you have 2 pages in the center of your yearbook you can customize! Add memories from this year that will only be in the yearbook you order. It's a great way to document your child's year without adding another task to your "to do" list!
Here is a step-by-step tutorial for creating your Customized pages: https://help.treering.com/s/article/Creating-Custom-Pages-from-Scratch-with-Page-Editor
Mrs. Horn, ART
Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd and 3rd grade students are all finishing up their different mixed media art lessons, so you will see those coming home soon. Now that every artist in the school has created an art portfolio for this 25-26 year, I hope they are using it to collect and store their artwork! 4th and 5th grade artists are working in groups to design a food truck! They will create a menu from their food truck and then make some sculptures of one dish from their food truck!
Students are actively practicing classroom routines, expectations, and the exciting creative space we are working in. We continuously focus on building a positive art environment, learning how to use and care for materials safely, and exploring the basics of artistic thinking and expression. This foundation sets the stage for a fun and productive year of making art!
Our lessons take multiple days to complete as we take pride in every little detail! By the time your child's showcase rolls around, they will have multiple artworks to take home! Once your child's portfolio is at home, feel free to keep collecting their masterpieces in one easy and organized place! PLEASE CHECK OUR CLASS INSTAGRAM PAGE @Lanier_Elementary_Artists to take a look inside the art room! 3rd-5th grade parents, keep an eye out for an email from Artsonia notifying you of any artwork your child has uploaded!
Coach Gibson and Coach Ledford, PE
Hope everyone had a great Spring Break!
Coach Steve, the student teacher from University of North Georgia, will be finishing up this month.
Grades K-2 will be asseessed on non-locomotor and locomotor skills.
The third, fourth, and fifth grade will finish the Georgia Fit Test. This test is a statewide assessment on cardiovascular strenth and endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and body composition.
In PE we will be doing some track and field skills to prepare the students for the Fun Run at the end of the month.
Just a quick reminder to have your child wear tennis shoes on the day they have PE!
Mrs. Kindberg -SEAD Lab: Hello wonderful parents! This month in the SEAD Lab:
Kindergarten is learning about: "Confused vs Sure", events that lead to being worried and how to handle disappointment. Twiggle and his friends are sharing their story with the kids on how to handle these tough situations.
1st grade is learning about: how to be proud of oneself and others, how to spread love, and the uncomfortable feelings such as embarrassment and frustrated. The students are making cards for teachers they admire, and practicing spelling hard words to spread love around the school and become proud of their accomplishments.
2nd grade is learning about: 'Feel vs Do", the feeling of guilt, and "proud vs ashamed" in oneself and other. To learn these skills best, the students have been playing games in class so they understand first hand how to handle these situations.
3rd grade is learning about: point of view, confidence, and planning out goals and making them happen. We are talking about future plans and jobs that they want and making plans to see them through.
4th and 5th grade are both learning about: friendships, responsibility in being a bystander/witness, and how to handle problems that are out of our control. These are difficult situations for even adults to learn so they are doing their best to stand up for others and learn how to care about each other's feelings.
These are all incredible skills that our students are learning that will help them make friends and be the best student they can be.
Mrs. Howard, STEM
Hello, Lanier Families! Take a look at what each grade level has been up to in STEM. We’ve had a great time exploring new challenges and hands-on learning in the Lab this month!
Kindergarten learned about how plants are alike and different. They planted zinnias and basil from seeds and are excited to watch them grow under our indoor lights over the next few weeks.
1st Grade finished a fun STEM challenge using the Engineering Design Process. Students became “biomedical engineers” as they designed and tested stretchers to help Mr. Cylinder get to the hospital. They worked together, tested their ideas, and made improvements along the way.
2nd Grade also stepped into the role of biomedical engineers by building prosthetic legs for Mr. Potato Man. They shared their designs and practiced giving kind and helpful feedback to their classmates.
3rd Grade started coding Sphero robots using block coding. They completed challenges like navigating mazes and using lights, while learning how to test and fix their programs.
4th Grade wrapped up their drawbridge projects, complete with working pulley systems. They shared their designs and gave each other thoughtful feedback on how to improve.
5th Grade has kicked off one of their favorite projects—the marble run! Students are building with cardboard while learning about gravity and motion. They’re already testing and improving their designs to keep their marbles moving from start to finish.
Breakfast is served to children each morning from 7:10-7:45. If a student comes in after 7:45 and is in need of breakfast, they will have the opportunity to take their tray to class with them. Our preference is for them to arrive early enough each day to ensure plenty of time to eat their breakfast in the lunchroom and be ready to begin class when the bell rings! Thank you for your support! In order to get them through the breakfast line with plenty of time to enjoy their breakfast please make sure they are learning their lunch numbers which is also their computer number! :)
April Harvest: Strawberries
Lunch charge reports will go home with students each month! Please make every effort to get them paid as quickly as possible. If you need assistance, please see the Nutrition Links on the side of this page to apply for free/reduced lunches.
We are selling chips and other items EVERYDAY UNTIL THE END OF SCHOOL! You must either have money on your account or bring in $1.00 purchase. 😄
Bruster's Ice
Bruster's Italian Ice is offered on Friday once a month. This sweet treat is $2. Send in your child's money by the Tuesday prior. Please label money with "Bruster's" and the child's first and last name.
Hat Day Tickets
Each Friday is Hat Day. Students can pay $1 to wear a hat to school each Friday. We occasionally have free hat days throughout the year when all students can war a hat on those days.
Ice Cream Tickets
A selection of ice cream is available at lunch every day. Ice Cream Tickets are available for purchase in the front office every day. Ice Cream Tickets are $1 each and are redeemed during lunch.
Infinite Campus Parent Portal
If you have not set up your parent portal, please do so. Without a portal you will not have access to your child's report card and other vital information. You will use this portal throughout your child's educational journey through Hall County Schools, K-12.
The forms (found under "Documents" in the left menu) need to be completed in order for your child to be able to take their Chromebook home during "School From Home" days, and so we know which children we can highlight on social media. It is also important to complete the census information yearly so we are able to keep your child safe. This information includes who is allowed access to your child during the day and who is authorized to pick-up your child from school.
For additional assistance, feel free to reach out, and we'll be glad to help!
SAFETY UPDATES
Car Rider Alert! Morning drop-off is between 7:10 am and 7:45 am. Students must be dropped at the gym doors where adults are standing and not in the roundabout area, this is extremely unsafe for students. The gym doors will close promptly at 7:45, after that students are tardy and will need to be dropped at the front of the school. Do NOT drop students off without an adult.
Afternoon car riders, please remember that if your student is in K-2nd grades, they are picked up beginning at 2:10. The 3rd-5th grade students, or a sibling of a 3rd-5th grade student, are picked up at 2:20. If your child requires assistance with buckling, please pull forward to the lower parking lot and assist them there. Do not do this in the car rider line. See the diagram here.
We are very fortunate to have a crossing guard to help us in the mornings and afternoons to ensure our line moves as smooth as possible. He has asked that in the mornings, as soon as you see the flashing light (on his hat/uniform), that you will go ahead and turn on your blinker. This will signal to him quickly who will be turning and will hopefully help the line move even faster.
Students WILL be marked tardy if they arrive in car riders AFTER 7:45. Please be sure to have your child here on time each day and in their seat ready to learn at 7:45. Students may begin arriving at school at 7:10.
Thank you for displaying your child's car rider number in the window of your vehicle each day!
All transportation changes must be made in writing by 1:45. Please email all changes to lanieroffice@hallco.org by 1:45.
CLINIC UPDATES
April is Stress Awareness Month.
What are the 5 C's of Mental Health?
They are the base of mental and emotional health: Connection, Coping, Calmness, Care, and Compassion. Incorporating these components into your daily routine can create an optimal plan for stress management, enhance relationships, and foster personal growth.
Students requiring medication, whether prescription or non-prescription, must have a medication form on file in the clinic. All prescription and non-prescription drugs must be in their original containers and turned in to the clinic. At no time may a teacher dispense any medication.
Please remember to send in an excuse if your child is out sick.
TRANSPORTATION
The Hall County School District Transportation Department is happy to inform you that the Traversa My Ride K12 Mobile App is now ready for download.
