Parents,

We are excited to welcome lunch visitors beginning the week of September 6, 2022. Due to space limitations, we will start by staggering the days visitors can come to lunch based on students' last names . The lunch visitation schedule and a few other reminders are below:

  • Students with last names beginning with A-M can have guests for lunch on Mondays and Thursdays.

  • Students with last names beginning with N-Z can have guests for lunch on Tuesdays and Fridays.

  • Please limit to no more than 2 adults per student. No siblings.

  • Visitors will have to eat on the stage in our cafeteria and follow our lunchroom expectations.

  • NO OUTSIDE food allowed.

  • Adult lunch price is $4.00-CASH ONLY.

  • ALL visitors must be listed on student's emergency card in the front office. You may only eat with your personal children. Students' friends cannot be invited to sit on the stage for lunch.

  • Visitors must visit during assigned lunch period (cannot get siblings from another class)

  • Please bring photo ID and sign in at the front office at your child's scheduled lunch time.

We are also excited about welcoming volunteers back to FBES. In order to keep our students safe, ALL volunteers must complete a questionnaire and training BEFORE volunteering at FBES this school year. For all of the details about volunteering (including a list of volunteer opportunities), please visit this link.

On Thursday, September 22, HCSD will have an early release day for all students. Students at FBES will be released at 12:00 PM on this day. Please let your child's teacher know the afternoon transportation arrangements for your child(ren) if the arrangements are different than normal. We will also be holding parent-teacher conferences on the afternoon of September 22nd. Teachers will be reaching out to parents with information on how to schedule a parent-teacher conference.

We will be kicking off our Boosterthon Fun Run event on Thursday, September 15th. Pre-registration is open now. This is PTO's biggest fundraiser of the year. The monies raised this year will be used for Phase 2 of our outdoor classroom (expanding our outdoor classroom space and materials for the outdoor classroom). The Fun Run is Friday, September 23rd. More details are below. Our goals is to raise $11,000 and if we meet this goal, Mrs. Bright and Coach Kelly will be racing each other while wearing inflatable costumes!!!!

During the month of September, FBES will begin our "Power Hour" schedule. Our students will experience FBES Vertical Families the first Wednesday of every month, beginning on September 7th. In our FBES Vertical Families, all students will be working with other students across the grade levels (K-5th grades) in smaller groups (called their "FBES Vertical Family") on community service learning projects and building relationships with one another throughout the school. The second Wednesday of every month, FBES students will have enrichment clusters which will be lead by a teacher in the grade level or one of our support teachers. These enrichment clusters will be smaller groups of students in the same grade level that are grouped together based on an interest of the students. Students choose the cluster they participate in each semester. Clusters run for four sessions per semester. Students will be choosing from clusters such as cooking, STEM/STEAM, wellness, gardening, coding, robotics, art, games, etc. Our enrichment clusters begin on Wednesday, September 14th. Our hope is that our students come home very excited about their cluster classes.

Afternoon transportation consistency is important in helping our students feel safe and secure. Please help us by keeping afternoon transportation changes to a minimum.

If at any time this year, you need an additional car rider tag for afternoon dismissal, please order a car rider tag using this form. You will be notified when your car rider tags are ready for pick up. Additional car rider tags can be purchased for $1 per tag. The first two car rider tags per family are free.

If you have questions about COVID or other health guidelines, please visit https://www.hallco.org/web/reconnect-guidelines-for-opening-school/ and https://www.hallco.org/web/send-home-criteria/. Please contact our school nurse, Cassandra Pinkston, if your child tests positive for COVID. (Email cassandra.pinkston@hallco.org)

Thank you for your support of FBES!

Morning Car Rider safety

Please see the below suggestions to insure our students are safe during our morning drop off. Our car rider zone is a NO Cell Phone Zone so everyone stays safe. Beginning this week, our morning car rider staff members will all assist with unloading cars. We will not have a staff member directing cars into the double lanes.

  • LOOK UP - (not on phones, or turned around)

  • STAY IN ONE LANE-please do not change lanes once you enter our car rider lanes

  • PULL UP behind the car in front of you – we have some leaving ½ to an entire car length space between themselves

  • PAY ATTENTION to the line that is moving – left side closest to white sign moves first

  • FILL LEFT LANE FIRST - if both lines are full, plan to fill the left side first.

  • All students should come through car riders if they do not ride the bus.

Partners in Education

We love our Partners in Education (PIE's). Their support of our school benefits our students and staff in a variety of ways such as student and staff recognition, school beautification, and school-wide enrichment . Our primary request is for monetary donations in the amount of $100, $250, or $500; however, we also work with businesses who offer services to our school. PIE's are recognized through our parent newsletter and school social media accounts.
