FBES 2022-2023 Student Handbook:

Our student/parent handbook for the 22-23 school year is digital.  Please click on this link to find our handbook for this school year.

FBES Families,

It is so hard to believe that we are in the home stretch of this school year.   There are only a couple of weeks left before summer vacation is here.  The last day of school is Wednesday, May 24th.  It has been a great school year, and we are so proud of all our students have learned.  We look forward to celebrating our students' accomplishments from this year with you.

End of Grade testing takes place this week for our third, fourth, and fifth grade studentsPlease help your student do their best on the test by having them at school on time each day (testing begins by 8:15 each day), by making sure they have a good night's sleep, and ensuring they eat a healthy breakfast.  Encourage your child to do their very best and to take their time on this test.  Our students have learned so much this year and we want them to show all that they have learned.  We believe our students will work hard to do their best.  As a reminder, we are not allowing lunch visitors during this week due to the testing schedule.  We appreciate your understanding of this change.

If you are in the building between now and the end of the year, please check our lost and found area for any items you child may have lost this semester. There are a lot of items that need a home.

Are you looking to be more involved at FBES next year?  Our PTO needs you!  Please see the information below about the events PTO plans for our school and for how you can help them. We are looking for parents who want to serve on the PTO board who will lead our PTO.

Field Day is Thursday, May 18th. Parents are invited to attend and to help run some of the events for Coach Kelly.  K-2nd grade field day events are from 8:30-10:30 and 3rd-5th grade field day events are from 12:00-2:00.  If you plan to attend Field Day, please bring your ID and sign in at the office.  If you would like to volunteer to run a station/event, please complete the Volunteer Application Process.  The video found at this link will give you the details for how to apply to volunteer.  The rain date for Field Day is Friday, May 19th.  Field day visitors and volunteers will use the gym restrooms if necessary.

We love having lunch visitors at FBES.  However, we need to remind visitors of a few procedures that we need everyone to follow.  FBES lunch visitors are only allowed to eat lunch with their own personal child(ren) and should sit on the stage. Please do not invite other children to eat with  you. Outside food is not allowed in our cafeteria. Soft drinks are not permitted in the lunchroom. Only 2 visitors are allowed to eat with students at a time, and other grade level siblings must eat lunch at their normally scheduled lunch time.

Our fifth grade graduation ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 24th in our gym. We will have a ceremony for Ms. Armand's and Mrs. Black's classes at 9:00 and another ceremony for Mrs. Frazier's and Ms. Villegas' classes at 10:15.  We are asking parents who attend to enter through the gym doors.  There are no limits on the number of guests that attend for each student.  We just ask that parents complete the Google Form to indicate if their fifth grade student will be checking out afterwards and who will check the student out.  The form will be emailed to parents this week. Please email your child's teacher if you have questions about fifth grade graduation.

Our yearbooks have arrived and will be distributed to students on Tuesday, May 16th.  We have a few extra yearbooks that will be sold on Wednesday, May 17th for $25.00-CASH ONLY.  The yearbooks will be sold on a first come first serve basis.

Report Cards will be sent home on the last day of school, May 24th.  Please make sure any money that is owed to the school is sent in prior to report cards being released.  These monies owed could include money for Chromebook repairs, lunch money, and lost/damaged library books.

When sending money to school with your child, please put the money in an envelope labelled with the child's name and the teacher's name.  We've had some students come to school with money that is getting lost on the bus or given to other students.

The tardy bell rings at 7:45 each morning and school begins at that time.  The car rider line officially ends at 7:50 each morning.  If your child arrives after that time, they need to be walked to the office to check in and get a tardy slip.  Students are missing instruction when they arrive after 7:45.

Our Teachers are SunSational at FBES!  Our Administration and PTO have planned special ways to help our teachers feel loved and appreciated during Teacher Appreciation Week (May 1-5).   We also want students to send in different items for their teachers each day (if possible).  Please see the list below for the list of items we'd like students to bring in to their teachers (if possible).  A special thanks to our Partners in Education (Jay's United Karate, Homerun Nutrition, Chattahoochee Baptist Church, Riverbend Church, and The Piedmont Group) plus our PTO who support our staff and students during Staff Appreciation Week and throughout the year!

FBES Summer Office Hours are 8:00-3:00 Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Partners in Education

We love our Partners in Education (PIE's).  Their support of our school benefits our students and staff in a variety of ways such as student and staff recognition, school beautification, and school-wide enrichment.  Our primary request is for monetary donations in the amount of $100, $250, or $500; however, we also work with businesses who offer services to our school.  PIE's are recognized through our parent newsletter and school social media accounts.  If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a Partner in Education for Flowery Branch Elementary School, please reach out to Amy Bright at amy.bright@hallco.org for more information.
