Substitutes

Teachers who know in advance that they will be away from school should make arrangements for substitutes as soon as possible. Teachers who must make arrangements for a substitute due to illness or emergency should utilize the AESOP program by internet or phone. Teachers who do not enter information into AESOP prior to 6:00 a.m. will need to call subs directly. AESOP will not call subs if entry is made after 6:00 a.m.

It is a teacher’s professional responsibility to make arrangements for absences.

If you have entered an absence into AESOP and then cancel, it will be necessary for you to contact the substitute personally. AESOP is not consistent in canceling substitutes.

If you enter an absence into AESOP and do not book a substitute by name, and then later make arrangements for a substitute and do not enter it in AESOP, you will become personally responsible for the cost of one substitute if two substitutes arrive at school to cover for you.

Lesson plans should be left with the department head, another designee, or on your desk in plain sight for substitutes.

In the event a substitute is unavailable for your absence, department heads will assign another teacher in the department to cover for you or may find it necessary to distribute your students to other locations.

EMERGENCY PLANS (AT LEAST 4 DAYS) MUST BE SUBMITTED TO canvas within the first two weeks of class in august.
