ADDISON'S PICKS
Powerless is a romance/ fantasy novel. Paedyn is an ordinary in a world full of powerful elites. She has survived by being a thief and living in the slums of the kingdom , while faking a mundane physic ability. When she unknowingly save prince Kia she is entered into the deadly purging trials, where she now faces Kia as her enemy. Paedyn must keep her identity secret while battle a dangerous romance and a potential rebellion. This book was an absolute favorite read for me, and it's one of the most checked out books in the library. Its a super thrilling fantasy, an interesting world, and the banter between the characters is amazing! Definitely something I would recommend.
ADDISON'S PICKS
Kiva has spent ten years inside the most intense prison in the world: Zalindov. She works as the prison healer while struggling to stay alive herself. When a new prisoner believed to be the rebel queen comes into her care along with a note from Kivas family outside the prison stating “don’t let her die”, Kiva does the only things she can think of to keep the queen alive. Kiva assumes the queens sentence as her own. Now Kiva is tasked to survive 4 grueling trials where she will battle the elements, to prove both herself and the queen worthy of freedom from Zalindov. This book takes place in a very unique fantasy world that I really loved. You also get a connection to each character that is special and really makes you feel for them. The rest of the series flows very nicely and there are some VERY unexpected twists.
ADDISON'S PICKS
Divine Rivals follows the intertwined stories of rival journalists Iris Winnow and Roman Kitt. Iris brother was fighting on the front lines but is now missing and her mother is drowning her feelings anyway she can. Iris writes a letter to her brother on her type writer every night in hopes to reach him, but when those letters end up in the wrong hands of her rival Roman Kitt, something sparks. They are both thrown into the middle of a mystical war, the mystery of a magical type writer, and the even bigger trouble of an unlikely love. This book has so many elements that are balanced very well. The romance is beautiful and the plot is one of the best I have ever read.
JULI'S PICKS
Prince in Disguise is a cozy winter romance set in Scotland. It reads partly in a documentary style as cameras follow around the main character, Dylan, and her family as her sister stars in a reality TV show. As sweet as it is, it is also a little angsty, as most rom-coms are, but it fits well into the story-line and the characters personality. This is a safe comfortable book that is well written and the perfect read for winter time.
