Ramsey's Reflections

Happy New Year Bears!

I truly hope that you all had the time to enjoy some family time over the holidays.  As it always does, January jumped back in with two feet!!  Basketball, Swimming, and Wrestling seemed to have competed non-stop throughout this month. "Spring" sports are also gearing up, and I always giggle that we call them "spring" sports when they temperature is usually colder for those activities than any other time of year. Our fine arts are in the season of literary competition, LGPE, and theater productions preparations, so they are buzzing with activity as well.

I am not one for New Year's Resolutions, but I have started a practice I learned from Jon Gordon of choosing a word for the year.  Many of you may do the same. As a mom of a senior, I am trying to "pause" this year, to enjoy the moments  - all of them.  The bitter, the sweet, the proud and even the stressful because these are all we get.

Around campus, students and teachers are registering for classes for next year.  This is only the beginning. Schedules are the final step in this process and those will be determined around mid July.  Please reach out to your student's counselor later this spring, after all of the information has been collected, if you have any questions. Quick a reminder that students will be getting out early on February 2.

Have a good week, Make good choices, and Go Bears!

**A NOTE FROM OUR ATHLETIC DIRECTOR, KENNY HILL:

Good Sportsmanship at The Bluff means…

1.) Be supportive

2.) Have a positive attitude

3.) Be respectful

4.) Be willing to learn

5.) Practice self-control

…whether we are ahead or behind on the scoreboard, always practice good sportsmanship. Know and show what it means to be a BEAR!  ALL Bears are called to be good sports which includes athletes, parents, and spectators. GO BEARS!

Reminders:

**Parents and Guardians, please help us out by reminding your students about the dress code.  Particularly, we are seeing students wearing clothing that do not meet the dress code expectations.

**From the Handbook, pg. 8 "Examples of inappropriate dress are: Shirts, blouses, or T-shirts with vulgar, offensive, or suggestive words of pictures or which advertise alcohol, tobacco, weapons, or other controlled substances"  Students are not permitted to wear clothing that says "Playboy" or "Cookies" among others.

**As the weather changes, a few dress code reminders:

1) The top or outer layer worn with leggings (no matter the length)  should hit the legs at fingertip length.

2) No sleep attire should be worn to school. (This includes robes, slippers, onesie pajamas etc)

3) Hats and hoods are not permitted within the building.

Also, if your student "borrowed" a top from the front office so that they met dress code, please return those to Ms. Tess.

Our Student Agenda is available HERE

Please help us encourage our students to follow the dress code during the school day.
