My name is Sheryl Mahoney  and I am from the beautiful island of Jamaica.  I am honored to be entering my tenth year of teaching English Language Arts, seven of which I spent teaching here in the United States at the middle school level. I am excited to share a love of reading, writing, and learning with my students. I have been teaching English Language Arts for nine years, and during that time I’ve had the privilege of helping students grow as critical thinkers, readers, and writers. My teaching philosophy centers on building strong literacy skills while encouraging students to make connections between texts, their own lives, and the world around them.

I believe every student has a unique voice, and it’s my goal to provide opportunities for them to express themselves with confidence. Whether we are analyzing literature, exploring informational texts, or developing writing skills, I strive to create a classroom community where curiosity, creativity, and respect thrive.
