At NCTA, we believe that Excellence is No Accident. The following expectations are in place to ensure a positive, respectful, and productive learning environment for all students.
Respect Your Teacher – Do not talk during rehearsals. If you have a question, raise your hand and wait to be recognized. Always ask permission before leaving your seat.
Respect Your Classmates – Do not distract others from learning. Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself at all times.
Be On Time – All tardiness will be documented. Arrive prepared and ready to start on time.
No Food, Drink, or Gum – Gum, candy, food, or drinks are not allowed in class or rehearsal.
Bring Your Materials – Always bring your instrument, music, and a pencil to class and after-school rehearsals.
Take Care of Your Belongings – Clean up after yourself. Maintain your instrument and put equipment away after every rehearsal.
Respect Equipment – Only play your instrument. Percussion instruments are for percussionists only. Instruments are expensive and should be handled with care.
Be Ready and Willing – Enter the band room prepared to work and willing to learn. Perfection is not required, but your best effort always is.
No Roughhousing – Do not throw, bounce, toss, or kick anything in the band room. No running or horseplay. Protect our equipment and space.
Instrument Storage – Do not enter storage rooms without permission. Use your assigned cubby for instruments and music.
Stay Until the Bell – Do not leave the band room until the bell rings. Take the time to properly store your equipment.
Have Fun! – Band should be an enjoyable experience. If you respect expectations and give your best, the fun will follow.
