Haley Street Adult Services Centre is a non-profit organization in North Sydney, Nova Scotia that provides opportunities for growth, socializing, and community employment for adults with disabilities.

What makes Haley Street Unique?

The services that Haley Street provides are unique to our community. The Centre serves individuals who come with a very wide range of skill sets as well as people who have varying support needs including complex medical needs and one to one staff support. Our agency provides an opportunity for people to have choice in how they spend their day, and learn skills that will assist them along the continuum of independence.

The Centre started in the late 1960’s as a drop-in activity centre run by volunteers. It was a place for people to gather and socialize after they had finished their education. Originally run by the local CAMR, the Centre eventually evolved into an Adult Services Centre model through a partnership with the former Department of Social Services. The focus then changed to one where transferable skills were encouraged. Today, we are an ever-evolving organization with a strong person-directed drive spread between 2 locations. We serve over 80 participants 10 of which have paid employment with us and we currently have 36 staff members.
