Student-Teacher ratio

The minimum student-teacher ratio is 10:1.

Further consideration should be made to fulfil the following:

• any legal requirements regarding supervision and safety must be fully met
• staff and student wellbeing should be considered, ensuring students are always safeguarded appropriately, and staff can supervise effectively.
• adequate, additional supervision which may be required for unusually risky, or unpredictable, activities

Staffing should reflect

• gender balance – for residential trips particularly, male and female adult supervisors are required
• individual/special needs or circumstances of participating students
• the nature of activities on trip matched to skills/interest of accompanying adults
• possible constraints of accommodation arrangements
