Treat yourself to one of Maggie's recommendations of top places to eat in London !

By Maggie F. (G10)

Having spent nearly 8 months here in London, I have had the opportunity to try out some of the 17,000+ restaurants. Here are some of my personal favourites, enjoy!

Location: Holloway Road

Miki's Paradise on Holloway road on the Piccadilly line is definitely worth the trip, they serve mountainous freakshakes for under £8. It is a cozy atmosphere and the perfect place to spend time while enjoying milkshakes, ice cream, brownies and more.

Location: Camden Lock Market

Chin Chin Labs in Camden Lock Market on the Jubilee line serves ice cream made using nitrogen before your eyes. The ice cream is beyond smooth, the staff is fun and friendly, and it is a great area to walk around and enjoy the market and painted murals.

Rope Market

Location: Near Tower Bridge

Rope market is a little known food market near tower bridge. It has distinctly delicious smell and is a great place to visit if you are looking for world famous doughnuts, lemon meringue waffles, meats, brownies and many other types of food.

My Old Dutch Pancakes

Location: Near High Street Kensington

The pancakes shop My Old Dutch is easily overlooked in it's crowded area, however just seconds from the High Street Kensington tube station one can find a store from featuring all types of pancakes, including Nutella soaked stacks served with ice cream.

Location: Piccadilly Circus

The cinnabon in Piccadilly Circus is in an extremely central and accessible location, just steps from piccadilly station the giant cinnamon rolls are a treat to smell and taste. One can enjoy them on the steps of the fountain while admiring the bright lights and interesting sights of piccadilly circus.

* Special: Various Foods above Whole Foods

Location: Near High Street Kensington

The Whole Foods next to High Street Kensington appears large and established. The bottom floor is a grocery store as expected but above it you can purchase many types of food, from gelato to sushi to pizza. One can enjoy all this from a comfy chair facing the window while admiring an impressive view of the nearby churches and stores from a high vantage point.

Recommended... stuff-ish for this Easter!!

Japan 🍡 🍵 🇯🇵

Recommended By: Mr G. English (and Anne-Marie from G12)

"How about the cherry blossoms in Japan!" - Mr English. Yes, we've talked all about it on the Home page but that's still not enough! Step into a phantasmagoria-like world of happiness and fly to Tokyo/Kyoto for the cherry blossoms. But, let's not forget about the flower fields all around Japan, especially the ones in Hokkaido!

*** Local (secret) tip from a trusted friend in Kansai!

If you want the best of both worlds, go to Kyoto for a picturesque view of beautiful cherry blossoms against a scenic backdrop, and pop by Kobe city to visit Awaji Hanasajiki (15 min car ride from Kobe) on the Awaji Island for never-ending fields of flowers! Also, go get yourself a treat - there's a local shop on the way to Awaji Hanasajiki which sells the freshest, tastiest daifukus so remember to drop in and have a feast..! You deserve it for all that travelling! Speaking of food, be sure to go strawberry picking too (Spring is the prime time for strawberry picking in Japan)!

Recommended Country (II)

The Netherlands 🌷

Honestly speaking, there's really no need for any explanation whatsoever for this recommendation. Going to Holland in Spring - it's on every wanderlust bucket list. Just think of rows, and rows, and rows of tulips - I forgot to mention, rows, and rows, and rows of multicoloured tulips!

Marigolds are known for being one of the easiest plants to grow and of course, they are a natural pesticide for those nasty aphids! Consider growing them over easter - find them here!

Daphne Bholua 'Jacqueline Postill'

CAUTION: Heavily Scented (and poisonous)

Recommended By: Ms J. Ranson's (Teacher) Mommy

Although not as commonplace as marigolds, Daphne Bholua 'Jacqueline Postill' is (kind-of) native to the Himalayas! They smell beautiful, but eat them and you may end up in hospital as they are poisonous. So be careful!
