Privacy Policy and Terms of Use
The [HALAL SCAN JAPAN Management Office] (hereinafter referred to as "We" or "Us") establishes the following Privacy Policy and Terms of Use (hereinafter referred to as the "Terms") regarding the handling of users' personal information and the conditions of use for the services provided by Us (hereinafter referred to as the "Service").
Article 1 (Personal Information)

In providing the Service, We collect the following information depending on the user's form of use (whether an account is registered or not):
When using without account registration: We collect image data of product packages and ingredient lists taken by the user using their smartphone's camera, as well as text information, attached files (image data, etc.), and contact information (email address, etc.) voluntarily submitted via the inquiry form.
When using with account registration: In addition to the above data, We may ask for personal information such as name (or nickname), email address, and password when registering for use.
Common: We may collect the usage status of the Service (scan history, etc.). As a general rule, this Service does not collect payment information such as bank account numbers or credit card numbers.
Article 3 (Purpose of Collecting and Using Personal Information)
The purposes for which We collect and use personal information are as follows:
To provide and operate Our Service (providing Halal judgment function via barcode scanning and account management function).
To expand and update the database within the app based on attached files (product images, ingredient images, etc.) submitted by users.
To respond to user inquiries (including verifying identity for registered users).
To send informational emails regarding new features, updates, etc. of the Service to registered users.
To contact users as necessary for maintenance, important notices, etc.
To identify users who violate the Terms or attempt to use the Service for fraudulent or unfair purposes, and to refuse their use.
Purposes incidental to the above purposes of use.
Article 4 (Change of Purpose of Use)
We shall change the purpose of use of personal information only when it is reasonably recognized that the changed purpose is related to the original purpose. In the event of a change in the purpose of use, We shall notify users or publicly announce the changed purpose on this website in the manner prescribed by Us.
Article 5 (Third-Party Provision of Personal Data)
We will not provide personal data to a third party without obtaining the user's prior consent, except in the following cases. However, this excludes cases permitted under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information or other laws and regulations:
When it is necessary for the protection of a person's life, body, or property, and it is difficult to obtain the person's consent.
When it is particularly necessary for improving public health or promoting the sound growth of children, and it is difficult to obtain the person's consent.

Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, the recipient of the information shall not fall under the category of a third party in the following cases:

Article 6 (Measures Taken for Security Management)

Article 7 (Disclosure of Retained Personal Data, etc.)
When a person requests the disclosure of retained personal data, We will disclose this to the person without delay. However, if disclosure falls under any of the following, We may not disclose all or part of it, and if We decide not to disclose it, We will notify the person to that effect without delay. A fee of 1,000 yen per request will be charged for the disclosure of personal information:

When there is a risk of causing significant hindrance to the proper execution of Our business.

If the user's personal information held by Us is incorrect, the user can request Us to correct, add, or delete (hereinafter "Correction, etc.") the personal information according to the procedures prescribed by Us. If We receive a request from a user and determine that it is necessary to respond to the request, We will perform the Correction, etc. of the personal information without delay. We will notify the user without delay if We have performed Correction, etc. or decided not to perform it.
If a person requests the suspension of use or deletion (hereinafter "Suspension of Use, etc.") of personal information on the grounds that it is handled beyond the scope of the purpose of use or that it was acquired by fraudulent means, We will conduct the necessary investigation without delay. Based on the investigation results, if We determine that it is necessary to respond to the request, We will perform the Suspension of Use, etc. without delay. We will notify the user without delay if We have performed Suspension of Use, etc. or decided not to perform it.
Article 8 (Information Collection Modules and Analytics Tools)
To analyze usage status, investigate defects, and improve the Service, this Service (app) may use information collection modules provided by third parties such as Firebase (Google Inc.). Accordingly, device information and app usage history (crash reports, etc.) may be automatically collected and transmitted to the extent that individuals cannot be identified. This data is collected anonymously and does not identify individuals.
Article 9 (Ad Serving)
This Service may use third-party ad serving services. Ad serving providers may use information such as app usage history and device identifiers (excluding personally identifiable information) to display ads tailored to the user's interests.
Article 10 (Security and Communication Encryption)
To protect users' personal information, this Service uses appropriate encryption (SSL/TLS, etc.) for network communications. Because the image and text information entered and transmitted by users is automatically encrypted, the risk of data being stolen by third parties is extremely low, even if intercepted.

If you are redirected to external sites via links or banners from this Service, We assume no responsibility for the information, services, etc., provided at the destination.
The information provided by this Service (app) is based on ingredient information at the time of Our independent investigation. Ingredients may change without notice due to the manufacturer's production process. The judgment results of this app do not represent an official Halal certification from the manufacturer. Please make the final decision regarding food consumption at your own risk after confirming the actual product's ingredient labels.
Please note that We assume no responsibility for any troubles or damages arising from the content posted on this Service or the use of this Service.
Regarding the operation of smartphones and photography within stores using this Service, users must follow the usage rules of each store. We assume no responsibility for any damages or troubles that arise between the user and the store.
The judgment results of this Service do not intend to recommend or disparage any specific product or company.
Article 12 (Image Transmission/Upload and Prohibitions)
Images (such as photos of product packages or ingredient labels) submitted or uploaded by users to Us via the Service's inquiry form, etc., must be taken directly by the user via smartphone, etc.
The transmission of data that infringes on the copyrights, portrait rights, or other rights of third parties, such as unauthorized reprinting of images downloaded from the internet, is strictly prohibited.
In the unlikely event that a dispute over rights infringement or other trouble arises with a third party due to an image submitted by a user, We assume no responsibility whatsoever, and the user shall resolve the matter at their own responsibility and expense.
Article 13 (Changes to the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use)
The contents of these Terms may be changed without notice to users, except for matters otherwise stipulated by laws and regulations or these Terms. Unless otherwise specified by Us, the revised Terms shall take effect from the time they are posted on this website.

Article 15 (Language Governing Clause)
The Japanese version of these Terms shall be the official text. Even if translations into English, Arabic, or other languages are created, in the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the Japanese version and a translated version, the provisions of the Japanese version shall prevail and apply.
