Miss Burns' Welcome Letter

Hello! My name is Katie Burns and I am your child's First Grade Teacher at Central Elementary School! I am looking forward to meeting all of the students and the Haddonfield community as the new school year kicks into gear!

I grew up just down the road in Haddon Township and I played soccer, basketball and lacrosse for Haddon Township High School. After graduating, I attended Penn State University where I majored in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I completed my student teaching in Lewistown, PA where I taught a class of amazing third graders. I received my diploma in May, 2019 and I am extremely excited to be teaching back in South Jersey!

I have spent most of my life in the Haddonfield area and I am so happy to be teaching at Central Elementary and I am very excited for an amazing school year! Go Cheetahs!!

Fun Facts About Miss Burns...

-I am a HUGE Penn State Fan! I spend every fall Saturday watching games on TV or in Happy Valley!

-This will be my 5th year teaching and also my second year at Central Elementary!

-I spend a lot of my summers at the beach (Sea Isle City), playing sports and reading on the beach!

-I have two brothers (one older and one younger) and a lot of cousins! I spend a lot of my free time with my family!

-I once stood for 46 hours straight to raise money for pediatric cancer! I was so tired after not sitting or sleeping for two whole days!

-I coach soccer, basketball and lacrosse!

-Peanut Butter, chocolate and  Banana smoothies are my favorite breakfast food. I have one almost every day!

-I have traveled to 10 different countries and I hope to travel more soon!
