In this foundational study of Nature and Needs, participants will examine and analyze the history of gifted education, state requirements, and variety of program options, additional, participants will examine gifted profiles and social needs of students to gain a better understanding of how their giftedness impacts academics. Gifted student burnout is becoming increasingly visible in today’s academic and social climate, where high expectations, constant performance pressure, and a culture of achievement can overwhelm even the most capable learners. Many gifted students internalize the need to excel, leading to perfectionism, fear of failure, and chronic stress. Over time, this can result in disengagement, anxiety, and a loss of motivation—despite their high potential. When educators and caregivers prioritize both well-being and intellectual development, gifted students are more likely to remain engaged, resilient, and fulfilled.
