Volunteer!

As many of us look forward to celebrating Thanksgiving this month, refugees fleeing political unrest and widespread violence in Afghanistan are grateful to arrive in HACC’s service region.

Local immigrant and refugee resettlement agencies such as Catholic Charities in Harrisburg Immigration & Refugee Services - Catholic Charities of Harrisburg PA (cchbg.org) and Church World Service in Lancaster CWS Lancaster will be assisting them to find housing, employment and educational opportunities. These nonprofit organizations are always looking for volunteers, especially those interested in teaching English as a second language.

This valuable teaching experience is excellent for students of all majors, but especially those in Education and Human Services, plus this is life-changing work that you’ll never forget! Living in the United States and speaking English fluently, we have so much to be thankful for. Why not consider paying it forward by sharing your language skills with a newcomer from a foreign land.
