Magic happened in the heart of the Bhau Daji Lad Museum. We sketched, sat and claimed space. We saw, and were seen.
Haan Hum Collective visited the Dr.Bhau Daji Lad museum with a deeply generous personal tour and the rare opportunity to sit and create in the main atrium, the museum and its team opened up their space and hearts to us.
For us, reclaiming spaces is a practice.
After this momentous day, it was time to launch Jagah, our next exploration on spaces.
We explored together the idea of spaces, and through movement and impromptu theatre and some emotional exercises, we explored what it means for a woman to enter a space, pause, claim and own it. We xplored hoe our bodies are constantly negotiationg permission, safety, speed, gaze and rest.
For the participants of Haan Hum, space is never neutral. It is resisted and reshaped every single day. We were able to develop some valuable insights into our own internal and external and collective spaces.
This was followed by a lovely outing to Haji Ali Dargah, keeping in line with our occupying spaces narrative.
