At the conclusion of this course candidates should have a thorough understanding of the GUI (General user interface), gain insight into the concept of "Project Workflow" within the EDGECAM environment. Users will have an in-depth knowledge of the creation of simple & complex 2D & 2.5D wireframe design techniques for both milling & turning environments.

Introduction

• Introduction and navigation of the Edgecam Launcher and apps.

• File locations: Where is everything stored

• Edgecam preferences - EDGECAM settings to improve productivity and make EDGECAM settings "user-specific". Ribbon customization and defaults

Essential Wireframe design:  (Approximate time - 4.5 hrs) 

• Mouse functionality

• Creating simple/ complex 2D designs using Points, Lines, Arcs, Polylines, Polygon, Line dialogs, Arc dialogs, Offset, Text & Arc text commands.

• Modifying/ Editing using Translate, Rotate, Mirror, Scale, Project & Transpose, edit multiples, Explode, Trim, Blend and chamfer commands

• Positioning Entities - Edgecam defines the position of an entity in 3D space using several methods.

• Understanding Cartesian/ Polar/ Angular coordinates

• Understanding Absolute / Incremental coordinates

• Layers- Understanding and working with layers

• Free / Entity Picking

• Dimensioning- learn various methods of dimensioning.

• Working at multiple Z levels- In depth learning about working concept and advantages of multi-Z level for both mill and turn environment.

• Boundary creation from solid and surface models/ entities to support machining

• Extracting Wireframe from a Solid

• Stock & Fixture Creation

Recommended for candidates with an Advanced milling or turning license (or higher) and/or 4 or 5 Axis Simultaneous license.
